In the spotlight:  Welcome to the Industry

In the spotlight:  Welcome to the Industry
By Ava Holly
Several locals were seen on the runway at Atlantic City Fashion week, which took place at the Showboat in Atlantic City last weekend. ACFW was here for it’s 12th Season. It began on Wednesday with a panel night, Thursday brought us a student showcase. Friday was Ready to Wear and Saturday was Couture Night.
With a look at the industry here, we welcome local Galloway Resident AJ Mercado to the runway for the very first time. AJ is a 4 A STAR model who was set up with the casting for AC fashion week a few months ago. A triple threat in acting, dancing and modeling, we intend to see more of AJ.
Many of the AC Fashion week models have gone on to other accomplishments. You may recognize Gio Delavicci on the runway. He has also appeared in Blue Bloods and the Blacklist to name a couple. AJ looks like he will follow in these footsteps with his dedication and personality. It’s a tough industry yet if you have the determination and cultivate your talent, you can go far.
ACFW is getting bigger and better each Season. Season 1 had about 75 people in attendance . This Season, there were close to 600 in attendance  and over 200 models walking the show. Designers showcase from all over the Country.
The photographers pull up front and center headed by lead photographer John Staples. . Local photographers grace the pit including Marco Panting of Pleasantville. Directors lead all areas of hair and make-up, model fittings,  castings and event coordination. There are also vendors and a team that handles that as well. As you can imagine,  there is a huge team that gets this show where it needs to be , headed up by founders Jeana and Lamont Bowling. For any and all info on ACFW, visit www.atlanticcityfashionweek.com
Also gracing the stage was project runway star Deyonte Weather.  With all this amazing talent and an outstanding show, we welcome AJ into the mix. You can contact AJ through www.4astar.com
We wish AJ the best of luck in his career as well as the continued success of Atlantic City Fashion Week.
