Opening day of the spring Linwood Farmers Market was April 29th and it was just perfect. The market launched in the fall of 2016 and was met with such enthusiasm that we decided to run a six week spring market. We crossed our fingers for good weather and Mother Nature was on our side. We had blue skies, great vendors and big crowds.
We were fortunate to have many of our vendors from the fall return. If you ever visited the market early, you surely saw people lined up for Hammerbacher bread. Their bread, knishes, babka and cookies are well worth the wait. We welcomed back Happy Valley Berry Farm selling pesticide-free produce, Red Room Café selling handmade pasta and Loving Locavore selling pescatarian prepared foods like deviled eggs stuffed with crab. The soups from Ladle of Luv are always fresh. Kizbee’s has become a favorite with their delicious gluten-free and vegan offerings. The flower arrangements from Lily’s Wildflowers are so beautiful and hard to resist. If you haven’t tried the honey from Honey and Hive, you are missing out! Next week we will see the return of Upper Sandwiches who makes the most delicious veggie burger!
We also welcomed plenty of new vendors. Goji Juice Bar was pleasing to both the kids and adults with an array of innovative flavors like sunrise juice containing beets, apples, celery, orange, lemon and ginger. We are lucky to have two new farms joining us; Potato Homestead and B&B Farms, both offering pesticide-free produce. We also have plenty of great craft vendors like Blue Lotus selling seaglass and handstamped jewelry and Sailor & Fin selling custom stationery, textiles, décor and art.
Since many market customers attend with small children, we try to offer kids entertainment. On opening day Happy Heart Corner entertained the kids with yoga, dance and art. On future market days we will be joined by Anchor Arts and Purple Crayon Enrichment Center.
The spring market will run for 6 weeks, from April 29th through June 3rd. For updated vendor information, visit www.linwoodfarmersmarket.com. We hope to see you at a Saturday market!
