Meet Jennifer Shirk

By Lindsay Kirkland

The more you write, the better you get and the third time is the charm,”       advises local author, Jennifer Shirk.

This was the case for her. Although she studied pharmaceuticals in college, Shirk began writing when she became a stay at home mom.

She has now published 7 novels and 2 novellas.

Shirk’s genre is romance and she describes her style as light hearted or sweet romance. There are definitely no sex scenes. “Some things are best left to the imagination,” says Shirk. “Wrong Brother, Right Match” is Shirk’s latest novel which came out in December of 2016. Shirk’s “Sunny Days for Sam” won the Golden Quill Award for Published authors. Another of her novels “Fiance by Fate” was an Amazon Best Seller in romance series. Shirk shared that romance readers are voracious readers. They often read 4 or 5 books a month compared to 1 a month in other genres. Shirk is now working on a 3 book series she hopes to have on bookshelves in October.

Shirk is a long time resident of Ocean City where she resides with her husband, daughter, dog named Sox and 4 hermit crabs. Most of her novels are set where she lives, a resort beach town that does not serve alcohol. Some of her favorite local spots include Jon and Patty’s, OC Surf Cafe and Drip and Scoop. Her favorite book is “The Book Thief” by Markas Zusak. For more information go to
