Here’s what’s new in 2022, and what you can expect in the coming months.

Castaway Cove will welcome guests on brand-new boards

After suffering a tear-jerking fire last winter, Playland’s Castaway Cove has been rebuilding behind a wooden fence all year.

The huge and iconic pirate ship that sat atop the entrance to Playland since 1998 will also be rebuilt.

Atlanticare’s development is underway.

Atlanticare Continues to Expand

The health giant is building a $38.3 million medical pavilion in Atlantic City, which will house Women and Children’s Services, dialysis, a medical education center, and wellness programs for Atlantic City residents.

Shoprite breaks ground on a $18.5 million grocery store

The first grocery store in 15 years will be built in Atlantic City this year. The 44,000 square foot store will be located on Baltic Avenue across from the AC Convention Center, close to the Tanger Outlets. There’s a smile on every aisle!

Resorts will be renovated

The hotel and casino plans to add a retractable cover to their outdoor pool so the space can be used year-round. The construction on the pool will begin in February. Resorts also announced that they will be investing $5 million in new game tables and slot machines. They also plan to build a VIP Asian-themed room, which will offer high-stakes games.

Tolls Have Increased

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority, which also operates the Garden State Parkway, announced a three-percent increase in tolls, which was put into effect this month. The $1.90 fee paid by drivers (who do not have EZ Pass) will now be expected to pay $2.00. EZ-Pass drivers will pay $1.96.

Caesars Atlantic City Will Add New Entertainment Options

Caesars will begin development on a new theater and resident show, which will open in the first quarter of 2023. The hotel-casino will also open a new restaurant, funded by a hospitality firm involving actor Robert De Niro. The firm also plans to renovate a block of hotel rooms within Caesars.

Playland is planning on a new pirate ship entrance after the fire destroyed it last winter.

Atlantic City Will Offer a Waterpark and Music Festival

The widely-rumored $100 million indoor water park began construction last week, plotted next to the former Showboat casino. The city also unveiled a three-day country music concert this August which will be headlined by Luke Bryan and Morgan Wallen.
