Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City Hosts April Event Addressing Food Insecurity – Executive Chef Pam Green Honored

The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City is pleased to announce that they will be honoring Atlantic City’s 1st Female Executive Chef, Pam Green, who has been instrumental in helping to address food insecurity within the Atlantic City community, at a fundraising event to be held on Wednesday, April 13th from 5-8pm at Water Dog Atlantic City, located in Bally’s Casino. Tickets for the Happy Hour-style event are on sale now for $100 each, and sponsorships are still available.

Since the start of the pandemic Chef Pam has served as the Executive Chef of Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City, working daily with students to teach them nutrition, hospitality workforce skills and to feed hot, nutritious dinners to over 150 children each day, bringing in over 40 years of experience in the local hospitality industry. Stephanie Koch, CEO for the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City states that, “The energy and passion that Chef Pam brings to the Club is invaluable. She is the heart of our kitchen and takes pride in feeding her community of Atlantic City and mentoring our Teen Center students.”

This hot-pink haired chef started as a Toast Girl at the Atlantic Diner at the age of 14. She listened and absorbed at all restaurant jobs she held in Cape May County earlier in her career, stepping up to cook when another employee unexpectedly walked off the job in the middle of a shift in 1980. Her Atlantic City work experience began as a Claridge Sous Chef in 1994, followed by Executive Sous Chef at Caesars. In 2001 she was offered a position at the Sheraton and was named the First Female Executive Chef in Atlantic City. She ran the department for 18 years, building strong community connections and loyal clientele. In March of 2020, Chef Pam was offered the position of Executive Chef for the BGCAC Food & Hospitality Program. Chef Pam’s leadership ensured that Club student members received hot and nutritious meals on weekdays during the school year where doors were opened for students to log on virtually with safe supervision and academic assistance when the schools were shut down.

About The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City:

Founded in 1970, the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City is approaching its fiftieth year of making positive differences in the lives of the youth of Atlantic City. In 1973, the club received a designation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and opened as a recreational center for boys, focused on basketball and boxing. Today, the Club operates from three locations and is a beacon of light in Atlantic City. It continues to stand tall as a safe haven for young people to visit every day. The Club is a place where a young person’s imagination can be kindled and their heart can be warmed. It is a place where our next generation can explore careers and develop strategies for college. The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City is a place where memories can be made, and futures begin. The continuous program expansion reflects the Club’s understanding of the community’s needs and demonstrates their capabilities to implement envisioned opportunities in response to new challenges. The focus is on closing the academic, social, and emotional achievement gaps for students of the Atlantic City area, including ensuring hot and nutritious meals daily. Simply put, the BGCAC’s impact is transformative to launching greater futures for the next generation. For more info go to acbgc.orgorg
