Produced by Sherry McCracken and Dina Engel of Little Rock Film & Studios in Ventnor, 48 Blocks: the series is based and filmed in Atlantic City.

“Why not Atlantic City?” asked McCracken in a recent interview. “Atlantic City is so diverse. If there is something happening in America, it is happening here.”

While viewing the pilot episode, you are likely to recognize familiar places throughout the entire 45 minutes. From the Ventnor Pier to Tropicana, Bouree and the Beer Hall on Tennessee Avenue, local views abound. This is in stark contrast to another popular series, Boardwalk Empire, based in Atlantic City, but filmed primarily in Brooklyn.

In the pilot episode of 48 Blocks: the series, two powerful real estate developers – one a former NBA star and local hero, Vernon “King” Carter– battle for control over a key piece of Atlantic City real estate.  Tensions rise as reporter Ally Price, played by producer Dina Engel, moves dangerously closer to uncovering their long-buried secrets.

48 Blocks: the series already took first place in the Crime Drama category at the New York Women in Film & TV Festival. Now it is up for the Audience Favorite Award. “We need everyone’s help to win,” Engel said. “This award would mean a lot to us and help the series to get seen by TV/Streaming buyers such as Netflix, Hulu and HBO Max.” Viewers can give the pilot a thumbs up, which counts as a vote for the Audience Favorite Award. “Winning this would help us to get recognized by larger streaming services,” added McCracken.

The 45-minute pilot episode is available for viewing after registering at iWomanTV.

“We can’t thank the community enough for the overwhelming support we’ve received,” said McCracken. “From fundraising to local casting through Weist Barron Ryan, we could not have done it without you. We believe in this city and think 48 Blocks: the series will be a win for Atlantic City.”
