Calling all adrenaline junkies, there’s a convention coming to town that is going to have you jumping out of your skin! The New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival is coming to the Showboat Atlantic City (801 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401) on March 27th, 28th, and 29th. Get prepared to meet some of the biggest names in horror with photo and autograph opportunities and Q & A sessions across all three days. This is a great opportunity for film buffs to see amazing horror films in the indie scene as well as having the chance to mingle with some of the biggest names in horror.

Appearing during the weekend will be fan favorites from movies such as The Goonies, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Saw 3D, Terrifier, and many more. The original Michael Myers from the 1978 movie Halloween will even be there to transport you back to your nightmares of years past. Want to get a pro photo and an autograph before the show? No problem, go to  http://www.newjerseyhorrorcon.com/photo-ops to pre-order. Alternatively, you can pay on the day but be aware that it is strictly cash only. For a full list of all the guests that will be appearing, go to http://www.newjerseyhorrorcon.com/guests. There will also be a range of vendors selling merchandise from your favorite films, so you can finally get your hands on replicas like Jason Vorhees’ famous hockey mask and machete.

If you feel like the rest of us, Horror Con would not be a convention without cosplay, right? Imagine walking around a Horror Con and seeing Norman Bates queuing up to meet his favorite actor from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Or Freddie Kreuger walking hand-in-hand with his girlfriend and Ellen Ripley from Alien. In fact, cosplay is HIGHLY encouraged with a competition taking place on Saturday, which you can enter at the ticket booth at the show. The bigger and scarier the better, and nothing but full effort will be good enough to take home the crown.

Not only is this an event to celebrate all the major horror classics that you have been watching for years, but it also great exposure for indie filmmakers to showcase their work. There will be a variety of screenings throughout the weekend of horror films from some of the best independently funded producers, directors, and writers in the area. Many of them will be available before the screening to answer questions from members of the audience and to give insights into the process of making films designed to make even the bravest of people sleep with the light on. If you yourself are a filmmaker and would like to have your film considered for the event, go to www.Filmfreeway.com/NJHCFF to find out more.

The idea for the New Jersey Horror Con and Film festival was born out of an idea from co-founder, filmmaker, and producer Ryan Scott Weber. After attending many horror conventions, he decided they were lacking something and wanted to put his own spin on things.  So he teamed up with Asbury Comic Con co-founder and Comic Book Men producer/pop culturist, Rob Bruce, to join him and add his wealth of experience to make the event a truly one-of-a-kind experience. “The New York/New Jersey area has many enthusiastic horror fans and filmmakers that need an outlet like this to celebrate films and the genre. Rob Bruce and I are excited to deliver a great experience for fans and professionals alike. We are pleased to join together great people and create something new and fresh,” says Bruce.

For out of towners needing a place to stay, look no further than the Showboat itself, as there is a great group deal available for attendees of the convention. For further information and to grab this great deal visit http://www.newjerseyhorrorcon.com/hotel

Tickets will be $30 on the day and are cash only, kids under 10 get in free with a paying adult. There are 1,000s of parking spots available at The Showboat, and it will be half-price at just $6 per day for people attending the event. The show will run from 5pm-11pm on Friday 26th, 10am-7pm on Saturday 27th, and 10am-5pm on Sunday 28th, giving you plenty of time to work your way around the convention and see as much as you can.

Horror is not just a movie genre, but it is a culture. It gives you that adrenaline rush that cannot be imitated in any other way, and that is why it has such a unique fanbase.  The excitement of searching for the next film that is going to truly make your heart stop for a moment with fear is something only true horror fans understand.
