ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (August 12, 2020) – Over the years, the property has seen its share of challenges but none bigger than the COVID-19 crisis.  Operating in a difficult environment, Ocean has been able to focus on safety and delivering value to its casino customers.  That strategy is paying dividends for the casino in its first month back.  July was incredibly strong for the property, climbing to the #2 position in the market for casino win.  “To exceed the prior year by 23% with one less day of gaming in 2020, as the reopening was on July 2, and without indoor dining, drinking and smoking, is indicative of the momentum Ocean has created,” said Ocean CEO, Terry Glebocki.

Since its re-opening, Ocean’s COVID-19 Health and Sanitization measures have been well-received from their guests as they welcomed them back to the property. Ocean started planning for reopening the day the property closed. “We needed to completely rethink our experience from arrival to departure.  Our team has made hundreds of operational changes throughout the property to provide a safe environment,” said Glebocki.  Wearing masks became mandatory throughout the property, plexiglass barriers have been added to all table games and the front desk, slot machines were spaced apart, hundreds of sanitization stations were deployed, thousands of new high-efficient air filters were installed, and the property cleaning and sanitization protocols were heavily improved with the addition of the Ocean Clean team.  Glebocki added “Ocean is ideal for social distancing with over six million square feet of space and three acres of outdoor spaces.”

The property needed to quickly adapt to the new environment.  With no outdoor dining venues pre-COVID, Ocean expanded its dining options to bring guests over 20 alternatives.  There are 12 takeout options with several convenient outdoor eating areas, expanded room service, new venues like Bites + Brews food and beer trucks in the porte cochere, a Boardwalk Poolside Bar, Outdoor VIP Lounge, and most recently, the Sky Garden Grille, a full-service outdoor rooftop style restaurant.

“We’ve been continually adapting and expanding our offerings, staying within state protocols, to offer our guests the experience they deserve.   These are challenging operating conditions, but I am very pleased that we were able to create an environment where our guests feel comfortable,” said Glebocki.
